One Kling 3.0 generation: a multi-shot dialogue scene with camera cuts, lines and lip-sync from a single prompt (turn the sound on), Kling AI
The Short Answer
  • Yes, Kling AI has a free plan, but it is limited. Non-subscribers can claim free credits once a month when they log in. Free accounts are capped at 720p, carry a watermark and cannot be used commercially.
  • The “66 free credits a day” you read everywhere no longer applies to free users. Kling’s own FAQ now lists daily bonus credits as a subscriber perk.
  • A 5-second Kling 3.0 clip costs 30 to 60 credits (720p silent to 1080p with audio). Native 4K costs 150.
  • The cheapest plan is Standard at $8.80 a month ($6.99 for the first month) with 660 credits. That is 22 silent 720p clips or 11 1080p clips with sound.

Kling is Kuaishou’s AI video and image studio and one of the most searched AI video tools. The questions people actually type are about money: is it free, how many credits a video takes, how to get more credits. Everything below comes from Kling’s own membership page and model guides, checked on September 27, 2026. 👇🏻

Is Kling AI Free?

Partly. Signing up costs nothing and the free plan (Kling calls it Basic) works, but the comparison table on the official membership page shows what it leaves out:

  • Free credits: non-subscribers get “Monthly Free Credits” when they log in each month, valid for 31 days. Kling does not print a fixed amount on the page; it varies by account and promotion.
  • No 1080p or 4K. Free accounts generate at 720p.
  • Watermark and no commercial use. Paid subscribers get watermark removal and the right to use outputs commercially.
  • One video per generation. Paid plans can return 4 variations of the same prompt at once.
  • No video extension. Continuing a finished clip is a paid feature.

What Happened to the 66 Daily Free Credits?

Plenty of guides still say Kling gives every account 66 free credits a day. The current FAQ on the membership page lists “Daily Bonus Credits for Subscribers”: issued on your first login each day, expiring at midnight local time, and excluded for 7-day trial and 7-day pass users. Free users get the monthly allowance instead. If a site promises unlimited daily credits on a free account, it is describing the old policy.

How Many Credits Per Video?

Kling 3.0 is billed per second, with separate rates for clips with and without native audio. From the official Video 3.0 guide and the 4K release note:

ModeCredits / second5-second clipCost on StandardCost on Ultra
Silent, 720p630$0.32$0.15
Silent, 1080p840$0.42$0.20
Native audio, 720p945$0.48$0.22
Native audio, 1080p1260$0.64$0.29
Native 4K30150$1.59$0.74
Source: Kling VIDEO 3.0 user guide and 4K release note. Voice tone control adds 2 credits per second. Durations are rounded to the nearest whole second.

A full 15-second clip with audio at 1080p is 180 credits, more than a quarter of the Standard plan. The cheapest workflow is also the obvious one: iterate at 720p with audio off, then re-run the prompt you like at full quality. Most credits disappear in trial and error, not in finished videos.

How to Stretch Your Credits

  • Use the monthly free credits first to test prompts. They expire after 31 days anyway.
  • Take the first-month discount on the smallest plan you need. $6.99 gets you 660 credits and 1080p for a month.
  • Buy a credit pack if you only generate occasionally. Purchased credits stay valid for 2 years, while monthly plan credits expire after 31 days and do not roll over.
  • Mind the order credits are spent in. Kling always burns the credits that expire soonest first, so bonus and monthly credits go before purchased ones.

What Kling 3.0 Can Do

Kling 3.0 rolled out on January 31, 2026, and the official guide compares it with 2.6. The upgrades that matter in practice:

  • Multi-shot scenes. It reads shot language in the prompt and cuts between angles inside one generation. Custom Multi-Shot lets you write each shot and its length separately.
  • 3 to 15 seconds, freely chosen.
  • Dialogue assigned to specific characters, three or more in one scene, with matching lip movement. Speech works in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish, with accents such as American, British and Indian English. Lines in any other language are translated to English.
  • Elements lock a character or product across the clip from 2 to 4 reference images or a short video, optionally with a bound voice.
  • Readable text, so logos, signs and product labels survive camera moves.

Since April 23, Video 3.0 and 3.0 Omni also generate native 4K, rendered at 4K rather than upscaled, which Kling says keeps faces from drifting the way upscalers change them. It is subscriber-only and costs 30 credits a second. A 3.0 Turbo variant followed in June.

Kling 3.0 Motion Control: What It Costs and How It Works

Motion Control animates a character photo with the movement and facial expressions from a reference video: dance trends, sports moves, acting performances. The 3.0 version launched on March 4 and mainly fixes the old problem of faces drifting during head turns and fast motion.

Motion Control 3.0 example from Kling's guide: the movement comes from a reference video, and the bound face element keeps the identity stable from every angle, Kling AI
  1. Upload the motion video and the character image. The guide allows reference videos of 3 to 30 seconds, and the output matches that length.
  2. Bind a face element. Upload front and side photos or a short clip of the character. The element only carries the face; hair, clothing and makeup come from the image.
  3. Pick the orientation and generate. By default the character and camera follow the video. “Character Orientation Matches Image” keeps the pose from your photo and lets you prompt the camera move.

Pricing: 3.0 Motion Control is 9 credits a second in Standard mode and 12 in Professional; the older 2.6 version is 5 and 8. A 10-second dance clip in 3.0 Standard is therefore 90 credits. It supports one main subject (the largest person in frame wins), works on anime and 3D characters, and does not carry over the reference video’s audio. If the motion is too fast, the output can come out shorter than the reference, and the guide says those credits are not refunded.

Prompt tips from the guide: label each shot (Shot 1, close-up..., Shot 2, wide shot...) to control Custom Multi-Shot, and tag every line with its speaker and tone (Mom (softly): ...) so dialogue lands on the right character.

Kling vs Higgsfield, and Free Alternatives

Higgsfield resells Kling 3.0 next to Sora, Veo and Seedance on one credit balance. If Kling is the only model you use, going direct is cheaper and gets Kling-only features such as Motion Control, Elements and native 4K first. Our Higgsfield pricing breakdown compares the two credit systems, and our free AI video generators list covers the options that cost nothing.
